Celery delivers antioxidants and dietary fiber

Celery is not only packed with vitamin C, vitamin K and numerous antioxidants, but is high in dietary fiber. Dietary fiber is key if you want to lose weight as it provides a boost to your body’s natural digestion system which can lead to weight loss.

The Chicago team also explained that celery and its oil have been used in Oriental folk medicine for centuries to treat circulatory disorders and high blood pressure.

According to the World’s Healthiest Foods, scientists have now identified at least a dozen types of antioxidant nutrients in celery.

Remember, antioxidants prohibit the oxidation of molecules in the body. This is important when it comes to free radicals. The body produces antioxidants and free radicals naturally; however, in the typical western diet, free radicals can overwhelm our natural ability to produce antioxidants. This is where eating a healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables comes in.
